How to sanitize your multifunction printer safely in 7 easy steps and help protect everyone from the possible spread of COVID-19.

Sanitizing your copier on a regular basis is a simple way to help reduce the spread of the corona virus and other viruses. Here are some simple steps which you can do to prevent this spread:

#1 – Safety First: Turn the power OFF!

This might seem unnecessary, but it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to anything electrical.

#2 – Wipe the machine down with a damp cloth (top to bottom)

  • Use a moistened cloth.
  • DO NOT pour or spray any type of liquid directly onto your machine and risk it getting onto anything electrical.
  • Do not use any corrosive solvents.

#3 – Use appropriate PPE and spray the disinfecting solution onto a cloth. To sanitize, wipe using the cloth moistened with alcohol (60% or above) or a suitable disinfecting agent. (Just be sure it’s not too moist so that moisture can enter the machine.)

#4 – Wipe the operational control panel

#5 – Clean the scan glass and grip of the Document Feeder.

#6 – Clean the surface of the Document Feeder/DF unit

#7 – Clean the areas used to access paper, like the paper tray handles and any doors or areas a user may have to touch.

Last but not least.

  • When finished, dispose of all cleaning material properly and remember to wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Set a routine and repeat as necessary.
